Conflict in the Clearwater Explores intense social controversy over the management of wolves and timber in the Clearwater National Forest.
The Selway-Bitterroot History Project provides archival photos, documents and oral history about the region, particularly the Wilderness Area. Check out Gifford Pinchot's journal from his 1898 journey down the Selway and then to the Lochsa via Old Man Creek. One of the principal motivating experiences in Pinchot's efforts to create a National Forest system.
